I'm not gonna lie, when people said it was hot here I thought they were over exaggerating. They may still be, from what I'm told this heatwave is extremely uncommon for Yakima let alone Washington State.

Our neck of the woods is the only area in the state that's seeing red.

Wednesday and Thursday bring us another Fire Weather Watch for all of Eastern Washington. We will experience very dry and windy conditions with winds 15-20 mph and some gusts up to 35 mph.

I've decided to reach out to our local weather experts and dispel the myth of the "dry heat".

In our house it's a cool 74 but when I asked on our Facebook page I was blown away by the answers. The range is from mid 50's to high 70's and the reasons bounce all over the place

A few days ago the reports said we were in for some showers, dropping the temps into the lower 60's after enjoying ALMOST 90-degree heat for days last week so I checked the forecast and thankfully my warning to hold off on washing your car, rang true.

An overnight windstorm knocked out power sources.

A wind advisory is in effect from 10 am Thursday through 9 pm Friday. U.S. National Weather Service (NWS) expects winds up to 35 mph, gusts up to 45 mph on Thursday. Stronger winds expected Friday, 30 to 40 mph with gusts of 50 to 55.
