The U. S. Environmental Protection Agency announced in a press release this week that it has approved Washington State’s updated Smoke Management Plan under the Clean Air Act.
The Burbank Fire, located west of South Badger Pocket Road in Yakima County and east of I-82 is spreading in a south/southwest direction and it's already scorched 7000 acres
It looks like another wildfire is on the loose near Yakima in the small community of Selah, Washington.
It appears the fire started this morning and still continues to burn the mountainside above Selah.
It is the largest number of firefighters lost from one wildfire in more than 30 years, and the most from a single event since the September 11 attacks in 2001. In total, 19 firefighters have perished while on the front lines of a wildfire in Arizona, 18 of them were members of the Granite Mountain Hotshots crew
