Recently we asked our listeners on social media where they thought the best fish sandwich was in the Tri-Cities. I made sure to include that it has to have plenty of tartar sauce. A dry fish sandwich just doesn't thrill me.
Let me also preface this by letting you know that McDonald's Filet-O-Fish is not terrible in my opinion. Mickey D's didn't make the list, but it's a pretty good fast-food fish sandwich. But when you get a really good fish sandwich that is a meal in itself and the fish thick and flaky and the tartar sauce is delicious, that's what I'm talkin' about.
I haven't tried Arby's fish sandwich because usually when I go to Arby's I'm in the mood for roast beef. But Arby's did make the list and I think now I'm going to try it.
I've had Skippers fish and chips in Kennewick many times. They got a few mentions for the best fish sandwich in town and that kind of makes sense since their fish and chips are not number one in my opinion but very good.
Ellen commented that it may sound ridiculous but Burger King's fish sandwich was really good. Again I am not opposed to a fast-food fish sandwich at all. Tammy says that Foodies has the best fish and chips and maybe they could make it into a sandwich!
Just Joel's made the list but they seem to make the list for just about everything LOL.
The most comments went to ZIP'S! And several commenters mentioned it has to be Zip's by the cable bridge. I can't tell you how many times I've heard that, although I've been to all three TC Zip's for various eats and I've never really noticed a difference.
And of course, there's always a mention for Captain's Cod Food Truck which travels the Pacific Northwest and makes periodic stops in the Tri-Cities. I just know they are going to be good, but I never have the foresight to check their weekly schedule. They were actually in Kennewick yesterday, but now they're in Wenatchee today. You can follow them on Facebook to find out where they're going to be, as they post weekly schedules.
