10 Great Holiday Moments With ‘The Simpsons’ [IMAGES, VIDEOS]
America’s First Dysfunctional Family has the biggest affection for Halloween, since it happens during sweeps. But it also has taken on the most wonderful time of the year more than once, so we thought we’d present a few fun ‘Simpsons’ GIFs and videos to celebrate the season. Or at least be honest about it. (WARNING: Animated holiday merriment below.)
Puppet Moe VS. Cookies
In the Season 22 episode ‘The Fight Before Christmas,’ The Simpsons gang got the Muppet treatment in a ‘Sesame Street’ parody. So, wait, does this make Moe Cookie Monster? Or Cookie Monster an alcoholic? Or just this a very dangerous holiday?
Look At Them, Smug and Secure In Their Finery
In the classic episode Season 12 episode ‘Mountain of Madness,’ Homer and Mr. Burns took the suggestion of the ‘South Park’ boys, and, when faced with misery, coldness, hypothermia and even death, looked on the bright side and built a snowman. Or snowmen, rather.
Our Savior, Who Bart In Heaven…
We have no idea who Marge thinks she’s fooling, but, hey, it’s worth a shot!
Holiday Parking Is the Worst
Let’s face it, every time there’s a major blizzard, this is half of us trying to get out of the driveway or figure out a way out of the mall parking lot.
A Holiday Greeting to the United Kingdom
The Simpsons are almost as popular overseas as they are here in the US, and particularly popular in Britain. So, they got a very special Christmas message from the family they think all Americans act like. Awwww!
Bart Melts Christmas
Bart ruins yet another holiday when he gets into his Christmas presents early and ends up melting the tree and all the gifts. From the episode ‘Miracle on Evergreen Terrace.’ (Thanks, reader Jen!)
Stupid Sexy Flanders!
OK, OK, this isn’t exactly Christmas. But there’s snow! And that’s very Christmas-y! Flanders in spandex, not so much.
Maggie as a Guiding Star
From the classic Christmas special ‘Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire.’ You know, we’ve always wondered two things: 1) How many people got that this was a reference to the classic film ‘A Christmas Story‘? And 2) how many people tried to find something exactly like this to force their baby to wear?
Textbooks Roasting On an Open Fire
Once again, Bart sums up exactly what every single kid would like to do the week before the school year wraps up for the holidays.
It’s HalloChristmas!
This may not seem holiday-themed, but it’s from the holiday episode “The Grift of the Magi”, and might actually mark the funniest moment in the episode. And definitely one of the more disturbing, since Bart looks a lot like a prepubescent Lurleen Lumpkin.
And In Closing, An Honest Night Before Christmas
It can be hard to find the early ‘Simpsons’ shorts from ‘The Tracey Ullman Show’ , but with ones like this, they’re absolutely worth it.
