This Famous Rock Band Once Played Kennewick and You Never Went

In a galaxy far far away, a very famous rock band played Kennewick and I bet a lot of people don't remember it. It was before they were famous but now they have songs all over the radio.

One Famous Rock Band Played In Kennewick At The River Of Fire In 2011

This famous rock band played the River of Fire event back in 2011 right before they had their first big hit and if you saw them first, you can say you saw them before they became famous.

The band was Imagine Dragons! 

The year was 2011 and Imagine Dragons wasn't a household name yet.

Imagine Dragons Before They Were Famous Was Asking People To Play Their Music

They had an EP that they passed on to Pete Christensen who was a high school DJ at the Tri-Cities Skills Center at the time asking for a listen.

Christensen didn't realize he was talking with future rock royalty but as he recounts, "It's Time" was the best track off of the CD and realized the next year the band was going to be big after seeing one of their songs on a movie soundtrack.

The band took to the River of Fire stage right after Tri-Cities favorites Goodnight Argent and as they say, the rest is history. They released the single "It's Time" and within months was booked on The Tonight Show!

It happened that quickly for the band once they got their music got out there.

Imagine Dragons Played But The Audience Didn't Even Grab Video Of The Performance

People in Columbia Park were there to see the fireworks on this 4th of July and when I went looking for any video of Imagine Dragons in Kennewick, none came up except for this video of the fireworks program. It seems the crowd was totally unaware of Imagine Dragons!

I've looked everywhere for pictures or videos of that night and can't seem to find any. It almost seems like an urban legend but yes Imagine Dragons did once play in Kennewick before they were famous.
