Traffic Accident Kills 2, Injures 12 over the Weekend on Washington Highway
An auto accident over the weekend kills two and leaves 12 others hospitalized after a head-on collision occurred near Entiat, Washington according to the Washington State Patrol.
The accident was along US-97 in Chelan County outside of Entiat on Sunday afternoon.
A Washington State Patrol report says that a van carrying 9 people crossed the center line and collided with a Ford truck pulling a camper trailer. WSP is currently investigating why the van crossed the center line, colliding with other vehicles.
The Ford truck driven by a man in his 70's then struck a GMC truck that was behind the van, towing a boat. The boat and camper trailers detached, shattering across the highway.
The driver of the van was wearing a seatbelt while all the 9 passengers in the van were not. The driver of the van and a passenger were pronounced dead on the scene with the other 7 passengers rushed to the hospital in nearby Wenatchee.
The couple in the Ford and the man and a few passengers in the GMC were taken to Central Washington Hospital but no word on their current condition from the WSP.
