The Tri-Cities SWAT team was deployed yesterday in Kennewick after a drive-by shooting suspect was holed up in their residence.
The incident occurred in Pasco and then continued in Kennewick as the SWAT team was called to a residence on Gum Street in Kennewick.
According to the police press release, on August 5, 2021, at approximately 11 AM, the Pasco Police Department responded to the 1700 block of N 18th Ave in Pasco to investigate a Drive-by Shooting.
Luckily, there were no reported injuries involved with this incident but it did lead Pasco Police to call in the Tri-Cities SWAT Team
Here are the details on the incident from the police report:
During their initial investigation, the Pasco Police Department was able to identify a suspect vehicle and determine that the registered owner’s address was in Kennewick in the 300 Block of S Gum Street. At 1300 hours, Pasco Detectives were able to locate the vehicle at the address in Kennewick and initiated inter-agency cooperation efforts to continue the investigation.
Given the severity of the alleged crime, The Tri-Cities Regional Swat Team was activated and the Kennewick Residence was contained pending the application of a Search Warrant. While the Pasco incident was believed to be an isolated incident, with no threat to the general public, extra precautions were taken.
Access to S Gum Street in Kennewick was blocked and the Kennewick Fire Department was requested to stand by in the area in the event of any injuries.
After the search warrant was approved, Pasco Detectives executed the search warrant of the residence, without incident, while the Tri-Cities Regional Swat Team and Kennewick Police Department provided support.
At this time, information related to the suspect, victim, and investigation is not available as the Pasco Police Department continues its investigation.
