You get home from a long day of work. Your scrolling through your emails and notice something from Netflix. You open it and it says your account is suspended! What? I just paid that! Well, there is a scam going on right now targeting Netflix users!

The scammers are trying to get credit card info from Netflix users.

They did a pretty good job of making it look official, but there are a few ways to make sure this is legit.

First of all, log in to your Netflix account and make sure you it's not really suspended. Just push play on something to test it. Okay, cool it works.

If maybe they caught you off guard and your account is suspended, make sure you only update your account from the official Netflix website, or call them for support.

The Better Business Bureau (BBB) also listed these tips:

  • Do NOT click on any links or attachments.
  • Read the email carefully for signs that it may be fake (for example, misspellings, grammatical errors, generic greetings such as “Dear member” instead of a name, etc.).
  • Hover your mouse over links without clicking to see the address. The URL in the text should match the URL that your mouse detects. If the two do not match, it is most likely a scam.
  • Delete the email from your computer completely (be sure to empty your “recycle bin or trash” as well).
  • Keep a close eye on your bank statements for any unexpected or unexplained transactions.
  • If you have clicked on any of the links within the email, immediately change your email and network passwords AND notify your local IT provider for next steps and actions.

If you think you've received this or similar emails report them to the BBB Scam Tracker at bbb.org/scamtracker.
