The Story Behind West Richland's Famous 'Bait Dog' Will Melt Your Heart

Lucias himself was a stray dog that was later adopted by animal control. The first time that Animal Control took Lucias out on patrol, within five minutes, he helped catch two dogs.

From then on, Lucias had been part of the West Richland Police Department for 11 years, helping rescue shy and scared dogs. Lucias, over his career, helped save over 40 dogs through the West Richland Animal Control.

He received a special award last year for his efforts. Over the last year, Lucias has slowed down and has been enjoying adventures at home with his handler.

For over 10 years, Lucias served with honor and distinction. He sadly passed away over the weekend, but what a legacy. He won't be forgotten because his life was extraordinary.
