What Are the World’s Healthiest Countries?
Earlier this month, we were astonished to learn what countries were the laziest in the world. So, it stands to reason that in order to put the scope of the worldwide condition into perspective it is now necessary to identify the world’s healthiest countries.
To do that, Bloomberg developed health scores and health-risk scores for those countries that have a population of at least one million people. A country’s rank was then determined by subtracting the risk score from the health score and by implementing five year averages if they were available.
Let’s just go ahead and get the bad news out of the way. The United States did not make the cut, which really should come as no surprise considering it was just ranked the 46th laziest country in the world.
However, unhealthy America might want to take a few pointers from the southeastern Asian city-state of Singapore, which topped this year’s list of healthiest countries in the world with an overall health score of nearly 93 percent.
It also appears as if the US could learn a thing or two about healthy living from countries like Italy and Australia, since they trail Singapore in the ranks at second and third, respectively.
