Why is WSP Increasing Roadway Patrols through March 20th? Find Out NOW.
Why is WSP increasing its presence on roads in the next few days?
The answer is Spring Break.
In particular, Washington State University's (WSU) Spring Break runs from March 10th through March 20th. More students will be traveling across the state
According to a WSP Press release:
“Our primary mission is to ensure that everyone travels during Spring Break without incident,” said WSP District 4 Commander Captain Jeff Otis.
While enjoying pretty mild conditions today, travelers should be prepared for winter conditions.
An emergency kit in your vehicle is always a good thing. Water, food, blankets, clothing, phone charger, and emergency flares should be available. If you're going across mountains, make sure your tires are good and pack chains.
State Routes 26,195 and Interstate 90 over Snoqualmie Pass will have an increased WSP presence.
We encourage travelers to pay close attention to posted speed limits and to be prepared for changing road and weather conditions. You can find current road and weather conditions on all state highways by going to the website or mobile apps provided by the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT). WSDOT provides updates on road and weather conditions, including mountain pass updates, to help motorists who are planning on being on area roads.

A speeding citation could cost you up to $250 in fines and about $17 in additional fees. No one needs a speeding ticket. Plan accordingly, students, and everyone.
