You Might Catch a Peek of the Northern Lights Tonight

A solar explosion is going to help us in Washington state get a peek of the Northern Lights tonight.

A geomagnetic storm is allowing some parts of Northern America and Canada to get a view of the Northern Lights that normally wouldn't be visable to us.

According to the NOAA's Space Weather Prediction Center, the storm (which is harmless to us) will crash into the Aurora Borealis, causing a neat side effect of the storm.

Viewing the lights might be a little trickier without a clear sky -- and also, it's easier to see the lights in a completely blackened sky -- so driving away from town might help.

The best time to view the lights will be from 10 p.m. until 1 a.m. Thursday.

I suggest grabbing some binoculars or a telescope, drive a bit out of town and look skyward.
