Nelly

In November 2010, savvy pop-rapper Nelly released his studio album Nelly 5.0, and the midtempo hip hop ballad “Just A Dream” struck a chord with pop fans. It swiftly became Nelly’s first top 10 hit in five years. Hailing from St. Louis, Mo., Nelly first came onto the scene nationally in 2000 with his summer hit “Country Grammar,” following with smash hits “Ride Wit Me” and “Hot in Herre.” Nelly’s locale certainly informs his rapping style, which is as much country as urban, and his dialect as well, which is as much Southern drawl as Midwestern twang, embracing a singalong vocal style that made his hooks catchier than his colleagues.

3OH!3

3OH!3 began in an apartment in Boulder with two guys (Sean Foreman and Nathaniel “Nat” Motte) and a computer. In 2007 their self-released album fell into the hands of Photo Finish Records label president Matt Galle. Sean and Nat soon began recording their 2008 success Want, and their first single “Don’t Trust Me” crawled up the charts for 15 months to attain the number one spot at pop radio, going double platinum and selling over 2.6 million tracks in the process. In January 2010, 3OH!3 began recording Streets of Gold, their first single being “My First Kiss” featuring the glittery Ke$ha.

Cali Swag District

The New Generation of Hip Hop Comprised of rapper/DJ C-Smoove, rappers Yung and JayAre, along with their resident dancer M-Bone, they are long-time friends hailing from the streets of Inglewood. Cali Swag District (CSD), ve created a great deal of buzz and crowded club dance-floors with its infectiously hypnotic single, “Teach Me How to Dougie”. C-Smoove, 19, is like the general of the group. Yung, 19, is just a fan of good music. JayAre, 19, is the cool laid-back one, but don’t get it twisted, he says, “I get the job done when playing my part in the District.” M-Bone, 19, a big fan of acts like Michael Jackson and New Edition, considers himself to be the wild one of the group.
