Shocking 1600 Children Need Homes In Washington
Did you know there are over 1600 “Legally Free” children in foster homes in the state of Washington that need permanent homes? I was shocked at the number and wondered what “Legally Free” meant. Superior Court Commissioner Joseph Schneider stopped by the station to explain..The term “Legally Free” means that parental rights have been permanently revoked making a child free to be adopted. Friday November 16th is National Adoption Day.Locally the event is being held at the Franklin County Court House from 3pm-5pm.
The theme this year is “A Family For Every Child”. If you are interested in the adoption process this event will feature booths staffed by the Division of family Services, Lutheran Family Services and Catholic Family and Child Services. There will also be guest speakers who have adopted children and Miss Tri-Cities Outstanding Teen will be present.
For more information contact Tiffany Husom at BF Superior Court (509) 736-3071 or Commissioner Joe Schneider at (509)736-2702.

Here is the interview with Commissioner Schneider and adoptive mother Gayle Middleton.
