(Now former) ‘American Idol‘ judges Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler each announced their departure from the show this week, with Lopez announcing that she was moving on during a chat with ‘Idol’ host Ryan Seacrest on Friday (July 13). Tyler beat her to the punch, releasing a statement about his imminent exit the day before. Now a report has surfaced indicating that each judge was fired, even though the show allowed them to bow out gracefully.
After two seasons, Aerosmith singer Steven Tyler has chosen to leave his role as a judge on ‘American Idol.’ Tyler made the announcement via press release, smack dab in the middle of speculation that Charlie Sheen is up for a slot on the panel and right after Jennifer Lopez, who joined the same season as Tyler, said that she thinks it’s time for her to go. Will Randy ‘Yo! Dawg!’ Jackson be the sole judge to remain?
I'm a huge fan of Steven Tyler! Always have been. And his quirky, crazy rock n' roll life has been nothing but fascinating! You wouldn't imagine a guy like that would settle down. Of course he is gettin' up in age! I think it's so cute how in love he is with his fiance Erin. He just gushes when he speaks of her, and they've been together for five years! Congrats Steven! I think he's found his true love!
Erika Van Pelt courageously took on Whitney Houston‘s ‘I Believe In You and Me ’ on ‘American Idol‘ tonight, a big song requiring impeccable vocals. Erika more than lived up to the challenge, filling the shoes of the recently departed Houston.
The 42-contestant herd on ‘American Idol‘ is being thinned out to 24: 12 girls, 12 guys. The final 24 will perform for the first time at the live shows next week. Can you believe we are already at the live shows, ‘Idol’ watchers?
Okay, so everyone complained about Steven Tyler's rendition of the National Anthem before the 2012 AFC Championship. But, I'm a huge fan! And yes, it wasn't "pretty" but it was Steven Tyler! And I love him no matter what!
What is it with reality talent competition judges botching the national anthem? ‘The Voice‘ coach Christina Aguilera bungled the song at the Super Bowl last February, and now, Aerosmith frontman and ‘American Idol‘ judge Steven Tyler is being crucified for his poor version of ‘The Star-Spangled Banner,’ which he sang this afternoon (Jan. 22) before the AFC championship game between the New England Patriots and the Baltimore Ravens. The Pats actually won the game, so Tyler’s inept version wasn’t a curse or bad luck.
“I am delighted to say that all three judges, along with the brilliant host of ‘American Idol’ are back for the next season,” he told Seacrest, who happens to be the aforementioned “brilliant host” of ‘Idol.’
