Which social media site do you think drives more consumers to make actual purchases, Pinterest or Facebook?

Well, according to the London-based jewelry website, Boticca.com, Pinterest does hands down.

Boticca, which was co-founded by former eBay and private executives, says they have conducted research involving 50,000 shoppers referred from Pinterest, compared to 50,000 shoppers referred to by Facebook. They suggest the results speak for themselves.

What they found were those people referred from Pinterest are spending about 47% more money than those people visiting from Facebook, although people from Pinterest are not spending as much time browsing the company’s actual website.

According to Boticca, people appear to be utilizing social media sites like Pinterest to do their “window shopping” and then using the company’s official website to make their purchases.
