9th Circuit Court Holds Up Tip Laws For Workers in Washington & Oregon
If you work a job and earn tips here's important news...
The 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has upheld a 2011 U.S. Labor Department rule. Here's who it applies to...Anyone who earns minimum wage and tips as part of their wages! What this means is if you are a waitress or waiter you DO NOT have to give your tips to say the cook or the bus boy. The tips you earn are yours and yours alone! Essentially your employer cannot collect your tips to share with support staff.
This law only affects workers in Washington, Oregon, Alaska, California, Minnesota, Montana, and Nevada. Read the complete story here.
