Want to be a Happier Couple? Do This One Thing Now
Sometimes, the simplest things can make all the difference in the world. I saw this video on Instagram, and I just had to share it! For several years, we have seen a movement to hold men more "accountable," and I'm all for that. I'm big on accountability, no matter the gender.
But, I think sometimes we have focused so much on the treatment of men towards women that often we forget that it's so important for it to go both ways.
Does your marriage need therapy?
Perhaps men aren't used to women complimenting them on their looks, abilities, and skills or even what they accomplish around the house and yard.
Admittedly if you have to constantly stroke a guy's ego, that can be exhausting! But, it makes a big difference in the day of anyone who gets some positive feedback that they are desired and appreciated.
Great Ideas for a Date Night
All this had just occurred to me after watching that video. I am sure I'm not the only one who has concluded this. So I googled it. And noted it's often recommended in Marriage counseling. So there ya go! Let's all do better at doing this for all the people in our lives!
I'd like to propose an experiment. If you are reading this post, and you want to participate, Make a concerted effort for the rest of this week to just notice your partner's attributes, things that made you fall in love with them, to begin with.
Or maybe the things they do on any given day that could be a little extra appreciated!
Then take a moment to let them know you love that about them or you appreciate something they did during the day.
I think we sometimes forget it's those little ways we show we care and we "notice" and 'see them' that make a difference and let them know we are happy they are in our lives!
I'm single, but I was married for 21 years and I think I did do a lot of that. But, I probably could have done more!
Most men are fixers. It's important to them to know they are contributing to your well-being and happiness!
