Buck Taft, Director of Tri-Cities Airport said, "We're delighted to connect Tri-Cities residents with the warm weather, outdoor activities and theme parks that make San Diego America's Finest City," adding, "we look forward to welcoming San Diegans into our award winning wine region, parks and waterways."
Tarmac notes:
The number of guns the Transportation Security Agency found in carry-on luggage at the Tri-Cities Airport last year was twice the rate of the national average. But hold up, it was only four. Tri-Cities saw a 57% decrease in 2020 passenger travel compared to 2019.
In 2019, TSA seized 10 guns at the Pasco airport’s security checkpoints. That was about 1 gun per 100,000 passengers compared to this year’s 2 per 100,000.
The Tri-Cities trend mirrored what's been happening at airports nationwide.
The TSA said in a news release that the rate of guns per 100,000 in carry-on bags found at checkpoints across the country was the highest since the department was established in 2001 after the 9/11 attacks. Read about that here.
