Do you sleep with your bedroom door open or closed? I personally leave mine open because my dogs go in and out all night and scope out whatever may be lurking around.

It actually drives me a bit crazy. So every now and then I'll get up and close them in. And come to mention it, they seem to just know it's time to stop investigating every little sound and just sleep.

Closed doors increase your chance of surviving a fire according to the Tuck website. It may feel counterintuitive for escape reasons however according to the Underwriter Laboratories Firefighter Safety Research, a closed bedroom door while you're sleeping is crucial.

Sometimes a child may want a door cracked open so they can see a bit of light from the hall. I was one of those kids.

However, new research suggests that sleeping in a completely dark room is far better for giving the brain and body total rest. So turn off all the lights, close the door and get the best night's sleep you ever had.
