A hunter in the Blue Mountains shot a cow elk that had deformed hoofs. That's bad news. Hoof Disease is a nasty thing. It's contagious. It's not preventable. And once they have it, there's no way to get rid of it. It's been found on animals in Oregon and Idaho, also in 14 counties in Washington, but never this far east, so it's spreading. Basically, where ever an animal infected with Hoof Disease walks, it is probably leaving bacteria behind for other animals to catch.
