Getting your students inspired can be tricky, but it looks like Los Medanos Elementary School teacher Dorothy Honey (it's real -- I had to double check the spelling) Mallari from Pittsburg, Calif., came up with a brilliant hack.

Remix a radio banger and watch the kids go wild for it. She chose Lizzo's "Truth Hurts," and I have to say this made me grin from ear to ear.

Want to sing along? Below are the lyrics she created

Let's be great cause I know we are great

woooooop

I just took an ELA Test, turns out I'm 100% that smart

Even when I'm feeling lazy

Yeah, I got math problems that's the student in me

Buzz, buzz, then I solve em that's the worker (bee) in me

You wanna have a good friend, who's committed

Help you with your homework, just a little

You know I'll hold you down, because you got my back

and that's the sound of the yellow and black

Hey!

Let's be great cause I know we are great

Let's hurry, we don't want to be late

Choose a crate or a wobbly chair

Let's take turns so we know that it's fair

In this class you'll never catch us fighting

Time's up we need to start our writing

Smart spots makes learning more exciting

bum bum bidum budum bum bum

Hey!

She did the whole thing standing on the desks, in heels no less. Lizzo's song "Truth Hurts" has inspired a few songs. Remember the Sanderson Sisters remake I shared before Halloween?

I just checked her Insta to see if Dorothy's song has made it her way and it so far no mention. However I am sure when Lizzo sees it she will love it, so for now here is the lady herself celebrating life and music ;)
