Health officials say it's possibly the first positive test for coronavirus in Eastern Washington.

The Washington State Health Department confirms an elderly person in their 80's is in quarantine in Wenatchee having tested positive for the virus. According to reports, evidence suggests  the person acquired the virus locally on in the area, because they have not traveled outside of Grant County. But that has not been conclusively proven.

It is not known if the person has or had previous health issues or pre-existing conditions, officials emphasize nearly all the deaths from the virus have been in elderly people who were not in good health to begin with.

The person is in the Central Washington Hospital, according to health officials. The test was run at the University of Washington, but is still waiting to be confirmed by the Washington State Public Health lab. If it's confirmed, it would likely be the first such case on our side of the mountains.

Snohomish County has 18 cases, King County 51, and now the possible one in Grant County. The total number of confirmed in the state has risen in the last couple of days from 39 to 70.
