Heads Up – Smoking Could Cost You $500 In City Parks

If you light up in a Walla Walla city park, it could cost you $500. The fine will also include vaping tobacco and marijuana products.

The Walla Walla City Council decided in a split vote to ban smoking city parks excluding Veterans Memorial Golf Course and Mountain View Cemetery this week.

A resident complained that the ban was unreasonable because smoking is legal and smokers have a right to smoke in public.

The city council responded that smoking was still legal on sidewalks surrounding the parks and decided that concession was more than adequate for smokers at parks.
