This is a very cool event, as there is NO LIMIT on the number of trees you can order.

However, organizers DO ask that you have your order ready when you arrive. PLEASE only order as many as you can comfortably plant. There's no need to be greedy here. Only take what you'll plant.

According to the City of Hermiston Website, they'll be giving away the following:

Available tree species:

Acer reubrum (Red Maple)
Betula nigra “Select” (River Birch)
Cornus sericea (Red Osier Dogwood)
Crataegus phaenopyrum (Washington Hawthorn)
Pyrus calleryana (Callery Pear)
Tillia cordata (Little Leaf Linden)
Zelkoa serrata (Japanese Zelkova)
Sequoia giganteum (Giant Sequoia)

I don't know a lot about trees, but if I had to choose, I'd go with what I know. I've seen some pretty spectacular Sequoia trees at the Sequoia National Forest. I'd LOVE one in my backyard.

Arbor Day occurs on the last Friday in April April...which is the 30th. It's a day to celebrate nature and you're encouraged to plant and dedicate a tree to someone who is special to you.  Learn more about Arbor Day here.
