Wednesday night fire chars brush, damages storage facility.
According to KPD, the fire began along I-82 by SR 395. A semi truck has a mechanical problem, and some sparks that were shed triggered the fire.
Kennewick and Benton County Fire units battled the blaze, and traffic both directions on the highway was shut down for about 30 minutes due to fire and smoke.
The blaze spread to some nearby storage units, causing some damage, and several vehicles in the storage facility parking lot were also damaged.
