Benton County Residents Admit Illegal Fireworks Set Off Badger Brush Fire
Benton County Fire District 1, along with help from other agencies, battled several significant fires late July 4th.
Area Resident Admits Illegal Fireworks Usage
Around 9:39 PM crews were called to the area of the 106000 block of East Badger Road about a brushfire. While Benton County Deputies evacuated 3 nearby homes that were threatened by fire, BCFD 1 and other crews beat down the blaze, which was in a populated area.
Crew remained on scene to watch for any flareups, the fire was under control within about 2 hours. One resident was hospitalized due to what Officials said were injuries sustained from trying to fight the fire. One of the residents admitted they had set off some illegal fireworks, which triggered the fire.
Second Fire Destroys Family Shed
Around 11:46 PM, crews were called to a home in the area of S 2054 PR SE, just south of Bowles Road and about a half mile west of SR 397. A resident noticed their neighbor's shed was on fire, they alerted the occupants and they were able to escape safely. However, the shed was totally destroyed including 3 vehicles inside, and some damage was inflicted on the primary residence.
No injuries, the BCFD says that fire remains under investigation, via the Benton County Sheriff's Office.
