Joan Rivers Is in Critical Condition
UPDATE: At 12:34PM ET on Aug. 28, E! News reporter Ken Baker tweeted that Joan Rivers was in stable condition.
Joan Rivers has been rushed to the hospital and is currently in critical condition, TMZ reports.
The 81-year-old comedienne supposedly stopped breathing while undergoing a throat procedure at a clinic this morning. A 911 call was reportedly placed around 9:30 AM relaying that "somebody [is] in either cardiac or respiratory arrest." Sources told the site that at one point Rivers' heart had stopped beating.
TMZ reports that the 'Fashion Police' host is currently at Mt. Sinai Hospital in New York City, and Rivers' daughter Melissa is en route to her mom. The NYPD reportedly told the site that Rivers is in critical condition.
In June, Rivers released her latest book, 'Diary of a Mad Diva,' and this past weekend she hosted a special 2014 MTV VMAs episode of 'Fashion Police,' where she was just as brash and feisty as ever.
Our thoughts are with Joan Rivers and her family.
