The unidentified man who recently accused Kevin Clash, the voice and puppeteer who’s been bringing Elmo to life for almost three decades, of having an inappropriate sexual relationship with him when he was only 16 has now recanted his story.

In the grand finale of what was clearly a move of supreme douchebaggery, Clash’s accuser released a statement through his attorney today saying that “he wants it to be known that his sexual relationship with Mr. Clash was an adult consensual relationship.” Which is what Kevin said all along.

The good news is that Clash, who had taken a leave of absence from his job with the Sesame Workshop -- which rightly supported him the entire time -- has had his name cleared. He commented on the matter with obvious relief through a spokesperson: “I am relieved that this painful allegation has been put to rest. I will not discuss it further."

Bottom line: Some idiot once again proved that sometimes people can be real jackasses and wannabe extortionists, especially where celebrities are concerned. But as lovers of all things ‘Sesame Street,’ we're just glad the truth came out and Clash can finally get back to work.
