Before you tip your toes into Lake Chelan, there could be a sea monster lurking in Washington State.

You've heard of the Lochness Monster but did you know there's something lurking at the bottom of Lake Chelan?

Before 1927, Lake Chelan was the largest natural lake in the state of Washington. Its 50-mile corridor and over 1,000 feet of depth could easily hide a sea monster. Lake Chelan has been rumored to have a sea creature in its waters.

The sea creature is believed to be Ogopogo, who's also said to inhabit Lake Okanogan in British Columbia. Settlers of the Lake Chelan area have told stories of a creature living in the lake for the last 150 years.

Ogopogo is believed to be a massive serpentine sea creature living in the bottom of the lake.

There have been sightings through the last 150 years and there have been various videos showing unexplained ripples on the water that have been shoot and photographed.

Ogopogo is much like the fabled Pacific Northwest's Bigfoot that while there are signs of something in the water, there hasn't been confirmed proof that such a creature exists.

An underwater expedition to the bottom of Lake Chelan a few years ago revealed nothing but like Ogopogo's counterpart The Lochness Monster, there may be some stealth-hiding skills that Ogopogo possesses that keep the creature from harm's way.

The next time you're in Lake Chelan, take the video camera with you, the binoculars, and see if you can spot the Ogopogo. I for one will make sure when I tip my toe into Lake Chelan in the future, it's going to be in the shallow end of the lake.
