
North Cascades Highway Spring Opening Delayed by Serious Road Damage
Our longest state highway in Washington State has a few issues that need to be addressed before it can officially reopen for the spring in the Evergreen State.

North Cascades Highway is getting ready to reopen, but the Washington State Department of Transportation is reporting a delay due to rockslides and washed-out roads.

Travelers Hoping for SR 20 Opening Will Need More Patience This Spring
In a posting from the WSDOT, here is an update on the current status of the pass clearing:
"On one hand, WSDOT east side and west side crews met at MP 157 this week.
This is normally a big milestone because it means the majority of snow clearing is done.
This year is a little different. Multiple damaged areas beyond the gates require repair — namely, a large rockslide at MP 134 and washouts between MP 142-146.
Emergency repairs are in the planning stages, and both these areas will soon be active work zones seven days a week."

As you can see from the posting, progress is being made on the North Cascades Highway spring clearing, with a new timeline of opening to still be decided according to the WSDOT.
