The National Weather service tallied up all the lightning activity that passed through the Columbia Basin and the rest of Eastern Washington last night and the results are staggering.

This map shows that there were 28,630 cloud flashes meaning lightning that didn't strike the ground...

And 3,499 Cloud to Ground strikes...these totals were for the last 24 hours

It appears Yakima and Ritzville to Spokane had it much worse than the Tri-Cities.
