There's a new skipper in town at the Richland Police Department and he's flying in from Texas.

In a press release from the City of Richland, The City of Richland announced that John W. Bruce of Frisco, TX, has been selected as the City’s new Chief of Police.

Bruce will follow Chief Chris Skinner, who last year accepted a position as Police Chief in Eugene, OR.

The department has most recently been led by Interim Police Chief, Jeff Taylor.

Chief Bruce has over 30 years of law enforcement experience and joins Richland after climbing the ranks within the City of Frisco, TX Police Department, where he has served since 1996.

He was named Frisco Police Chief in January 2013. As Chief, he has led a department of 215 sworn personnel and 115 civilians in the fast-growing community, which boasts a population of over 185,000 residents.

He is married to his wife, Anita, and they have two sons, who are also public safety professionals.

Subject to the successful completion of a customary background investigation and pre-employment testing, he will begin his work as Chief of Police for the City of Richland in early June 2019.
