Richland Police Warn of Apple Cloud Security Breach Scam Calls
Richland Police received a phone call from a Richland resident that advised Apple called him 6 times yesterday to let him know there was a breach in cloud security and he needed to speak with a “support advisor”.
The phone number that the calls came from is in fact the phone number for an Apple Store in Spokane, WA. These calls are scams and Apple is aware of them. When the number 509-458-8080, is called back, the following recording plays “Apple is aware that some customers are receiving unsolicited calls claiming to be from this apple store. If you receive an unsolicited call you should not provide any information to the callers.” While the number being used is the correct number for the store in Spokane, it is not a legit call from Apple.
