Washington State Parks employs more than 500 permanent staff and more than 350 seasonal and temporary staff throughout the state. The headquarters office is located in Tumwater, and region offices are located in Burlington, East Wenatchee and Tumwater. This recruitment will be used to fill a full-time, permanent Park Ranger 1 position for the Blue Mountain Area, located in Eastern Washington. The reporting location for this position is negotiable and can be at Columbia Plateau Trail, Sacajawea Historical State Park or Lyons Ferry. DUTIES: This position serves as a Park Ranger 1 for the Blue Mountain Area, and independently performs a variety of duties defined by the Operations and Area Managers. This position will lead projects, maintain gates and signs, monitor and maintain trail surfaces, control noxious weeds, educate users regarding rules and laws, conduct interpretive programs and engage in community events, manage GIS and other mapping systems, communicate with neighbors and stakeholders, and enforce the Discover Pass at trailhead parking areas. Further, this position protects, preserves, and enhances the park and natural resources, while ensuring the safety and welfare of the park visitors to the park area. This position directly supports the mission by connecting citizens to the Palouse to Cascades Trail (from Lind to the Idaho Border) and the Columbia Plateau Trail (from Pasco to Cheney).
Duties include, but are not limited to: •Perform and facilitate routine maintenance, stewardship functions, and projects with the assistance of the area staff as needed. •Identify and map boundaries, document development plans and agreements, create and institute a sign plan and other various administrative duties. •Communicate with adjacent land owners, stake holders, user groups, area and agency staff. •Supervise park aides, volunteers, and work crews following all applicable agency policies and procedures; statewide rules and regulations; and the Collective Bargaining Agreement. •Maintain limited Law Enforcement Commission, completing required annual training as outlined in Collective Bargaining Agreement. •Maintain expertise of rules and regulations necessary to perform rule and regulation compliance duties. •Educate the park visitors on rules and regulations that govern activities within the park area.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: •High school graduation or GED. •Two years of college.** •A valid driver's license. •Must be 21 years of age by date of hire. •Pesticide Applicators license must be obtained within 12 months of hire. **Military experience or work in a Natural Resource or Recreation field will substitute year for year for education.**

WORK CONDITIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: • Possess sufficient physical stamina and dexterity to work arduous manual tasks over extended periods. • Willing to work weekends, holidays and long and/or irregular hours. • Willing to work in inclement weather conditions. • Must not have a driving record that indicates a disregard for rules and regulations. Driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs, hit and run, reckless driving, or an accumulation of driving violations will be evaluated. • Must possess a valid First Aid and CPR certification.
LAW ENFORCEMENT TRAINING: Park Ranger 1's will be required to attend and successfully pass a mandatory one-week training in mid-May. This training will include a curriculum of defensive tactics certifications, basic first aid and adult/infant CPR (w/AED), radio communications, legal update, and other duties and responsibilities specific to the role of a Park Ranger 1, such as: •Chain-of-command structure •Supervision of non-permanent employees/volunteers •Role & authority •Discover Pass enforcement •Issuing of infractions •Crime recognition and incident reporting •Lawful and effective use of pepper spray •Tactical communications

VANCOUVER, Wash. – The Washington Department of Natural Resources is already hiring for the 2019 wildfire season.
The agency says it’s looking to hire about 550 temporary firefighters.
Previous experience is not necessary, but applicants will be required to pass a tough physical test.
DNR crews responded to 1,826 wildfires in 2018, a new record.
Those applying for the first time should expect to fill positions from about mid-June to mid-September. Returning firefighters might be able to fill temporary positions beginning in April.
Some seasonal firefighters might also work into October, depending on availability and weather conditions.
The DNR provides all required safety clothing, equipment and training for hired firefighters.

Services may include both behavioral health and addictions treatment. • Performs case management duties • Provides crisis assessment and intervention services in support of BestCare's emergency capability, including after-hours duties. • Performs investigations and evaluations for civil commitment. • Makes recommendations for the courts regarding client status • Provides hospital evaluations and coordination in support and management of BestCare's acute care resources. • Collaborates with other team members and community partners • Provides case consultation. • Provides emergency and routine case consultation for various outside agencies, juvenile agencies and hospitals • Provides behavioral health and/or addictions education and training to internal staff and external partners • Other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Program Director
Minimum Requirements: • Master's Degree in Psychology, Social Work, or other Behavioral Science field with one year of experience in the behavioral health field; OR a Bachelor's degree in Nursing or Occupational Therapy, licensed by the State of Oregon, with three years' experience in a behavioral health field. Candidate should be able to be credentialed as a QMHP at the time of hire. Licensure is preferred. • Proven strong client engagement skills. • Proven success collaborating with teams at various levels of care and with community partners. • Demonstrated capacity to individualize care and tailor services to individuals at varying stages of change. • Compassion towards individuals with Mental Health Crises, SUD, and co-occurring medical and mental health needs. • Experience working with diverse communities preferred. • Experience using EMR for documenting services provided • Familiarity with Excel and other data tracking systems • Must have the ability to get along with co-workers. • Must have a valid driver's license and be insurable to drive a motor vehicle.
Skills and Knowledge: Requires a working knowledge of psychological, sociological, and psychiatric theory. Well-developed human relations, interviewing, counseling, and writing skills; along with an appreciable interpersonal sensitivity and awareness of client situations and values. Working knowledge of community behavioral health and/or addictions concepts, case management and treatment services, client assessment, treatment planning and treatment protocols, behavioral health disorders and diagnostic classifications.
Hours per day or week: 40 hour work week, but must be willing to work a flexible schedule when necessary to meet client and BestCare need.
