Another hidden gem in Yakima and this time we're headed to Tammy's Mexican Restaurant located at 1010 North 1st Street for Food Friday's with Sarah J powered by Coca-Cola of Yakima and Tri-Cities for date night with the hubs.

I have a list of all the different spots I am interested in trying so for date night my husband perused and chose Tammy's Mexican Restaurant. Have you heard of it? Neither of us had but we love Mexican food and I am SO glad because you've got to check this place out.

We decided to order take-out, you can dine in as well with lots of tables including a nice big table set in a section that gives off a little more privacy, decorated like an outdoor garden it's perfect for a big family dinner out. They are open Wednesday - Monday 9 am - 8 pm. We ran into a bit of construction in the area but don't let that stop you from heading on down to try out the goods. It's worth it.

The menu is something else. Loads of items I am unfamiliar with, very authentic and that's one of the MOST fun parts of living in this area. If you haven't noticed most of the Mexican restaurant dishes in the area are made specifically to the spot in Mexico the creators are from so the presentation and flavors are unique.

Tyler chose the Enchiladas Das Asada, we also ordered a Huarache, a side of guacamole, Caldo De Mariscos, and two bottles of Coca-Cola. Fun fact, the bottles of Coca-Cola from Mexico are made with real cane sugar making them not as sweet as what we get in America. Very refreshing.

The Huarache was like a giant sope, kind of like a flatbread pizza, Mexican style. It featured layers of beans, lettuce, adobada (pork), and more. SO good, thick, and reheats nicely if you can't finish it all in one sitting.

The food was delicious and I loved how they packed everything to make sure nothing was going to spill out. When I ordered the Caldo (never having done it before) they asked if I wanted it cold, warm, or hot. I asked for the way it's most often served. It came hot with a side of chips and was delicious! It even has bits of octopus in it. Pulpo in Spanish. I'm learning :)

Tammy's Mexican Restaurant's guacamole is out of this world and leaves your mouth filled with a fresh and delicious flavor, you can tell there is extra love in that mix. Our order was ready within 15 minutes of placing it, the vibe when entering was very friendly and a place we will for sure be back to enjoy again. If you are craving Mexican food, this is a great spot to check out.

Treat yourself to something authentic and support local. Happy Foodie Friday!

Love, Sarah J
