Tri-City Taxi Cab Shutters Doors After 40 Years
It's an end of an era for A-1 Taxi here in Tri-Cities. The Cab Company has abruptly shuttered it's doors after 38 years of service.
The news broke late yesterday and is leaving Ben Franklin Transit scrambling to find a replacement. Ben Franklin Transit has contracted with the Taxi company for the last 16 years.
Tri-City Cab posted this statement on their Facebook page
Due to unforeseen circumstances, A-1 Tri-City Taxi will be closing and discontinuing all services effective at midnight tonight. We have been a community transportation partner for 38 years, and have been honored to employ 60+ staff members in service to the Tri-Cities area, so this decision has been a difficult one.
We have also been a 16-year partner to Ben Franklin Transit providing contracted taxi services including Taxi Feeder, Night Service, and Sunday Service, which will also be discontinued after today’s commitments are completed. BFT leadership is aware of this, and will be quickly exploring possible solutions. For the most up-to-date information, please visit BFT’s website at www.bft.org, call Customer Service at 735-5100, or consult BFT’s Facebook and Twitter accounts.
We thank our community for the opportunity to serve their transportation needs over the years, and assure you we have done all we could to avoid discontinuing these important services.
We have no further comments beyond this statement at this time, thank you for your understanding and assistance notifying the community.
Most sincerely,
Alex Bedoya
Manager
