Police Suspect Jealousy Was Cause of Hermiston Murder-Suicide
Officials say the deceased shooter in a tragic Hermiston murder-suicide was upset over the woman, Andria Bye, dating Kenneth Valdez.
According to KVEW-TV, officials believe 45-year-old Jason E. Huston fatally shot Kenneth E. Valdez, 35-year-old Andria Bye, and her son 14-year-old James JJ Hurtado because Bye was dating Valdez.
Officials say Huston had been in a relationship with Bye several years ago, and had apparently become a father figure to the boy. Both Huston and Valdez coached wrestlers at Hermiston High and assisted other younger wrestlers.
Authorities did not say if he intended to kill Bye, as she survived the shooting. Authorities found the body of Hurtado in a rugged rural area outside of Hermiston.
Umatilla County Sheriff's officials say Huston fatally shot Hurtado, then returned to town and shot the others.
