Even on vacation Foodie Friday's with Sarah J powered by Coca Cola of Yakima and Tri-Cities just won't stop and you shouldn't stop either, going out and trying delicious local restaurants when you can. Supporting the passion and time someone's put into creating enticing and unique menu options is something to be celebrated and for a date night with the hubs, Waterfire Restaurant and Grill was the little corner of heaven right here in the Yakima Valley we chose.

Waterfire Restaurant and Grill is located at 4000 Creekside Loop, offering gorgeous views of the Autumn ridge this restaurant has learned to evolve in the midst of chaos. Follow them on social media to get a taste of the passion this family-run has to offer. They are going outside of the norm to bring different items to the menu. Here's how they describe what you're in for

A NORTHWEST CULINARY EXPERIENCE INSPIRED BY FLAVORS OF THE WORLD

If you love happy hour, the drink menu alone is something to cherish. Perfect bites to share while out with your crew. Served from 3 pm - 5 pm they offer a tiered menu of appetizers to capture every palate and once the dishes arrive you can see the extra details like Maldon sea salt (I'm guessing) sprinkled on the in house cut french fries or the spices mixed into the fried fish batter that create an entirely new type of fish and chips experience. Nothing is overly greasy and everything is packed with flavor.

It's been over a year since my husband and I sat down at an indoor restaurant and the experience couldn't have been better. I love the building features, super high ceilings with giant windows that let in warm sunshine, rolling fields at the base of Ahtanuhm ridge, and viewing the airport had me pretending that a fancy car had just dropped us off from a flight.

There are options for indoor and outdoor seating, in the bar or down in all kinds of nooks and wide-open spaces. We were seated in an awesome booth facing what felt like our own tv to watch baseball and still enjoying an outdoor indoor view. Going at around 4:15 pm gave us options off the happy hour menu and a jump ahead of the dinner crowd. We started with an order of Temora Shrimp and Asparagus with sweet chili sauce to dip it in and it was the perfect amount for two. Three pieces of mouth-watering shrimp and three impressive asparagus lightly fried in tempura batter.

For our main course, the hubs went with fish and chips

panko, basil and parmesan crusted true Alaskan cod, golden french fries, tartar sauce, coleslaw and malt vinegar reduction

The fish batter was light and flaky with a fantastic crunch but no sitting oil. There were seasonings mixed in so you could really taste the batter and the house-made tartar sauce makes you do a double-take, even the ketchup felt like it got an extra bit of love.

I ordered a Crispy Fried Thai Chicken Sandwich on a brioche bun with a side of sweet potato fries and it was scrumptious. The Thai Chicken Sandwich was incredibly juicy with a light flaky crust including green papaya slaw, for a while I was so curious where the sweet bit was coming from, fresh pineapple. The mixture of mayo, Thai flavors, and fresh papaya made for a light and fresh meal. I wasn't able to finish it and now I'm sad I didn't take what little I had left with me because I want another bite!

We were too stuffed for dessert but the flourless chocolate torte and the rustic apple tart sounded pretty fantastic!
