West Richland PD report that Coco, the dog hit a couple of weeks ago by a car, is recovering but now help is needed for her care.

According to WRPD, the eight month old Shepard mix pup, was hit by a car and suffered a broken right back leg. The incident occurred in "another jurisdiction." 11 days later, the dog ended up at a vet within the WRPD boundary of operations.

Sadly, the vet said Coco's leg needed to be amputated due to complications from being left untreated for so long. WRPD says the owners, who were contacted multiple times, were very uncooperative  with animal control officials throughout the process. They ended up surrendering the dog to the Police Department.

The surgery was performed immediately, and now Coco is recovering. However, support and help are needed for her recovery, and she is currently in a foster home. No word if she will be adopted out, but anyone who would like to donate to help defray her recovery expenses, you can contact Paws, Claws, and Hooves Vet at 509-578-1729.

We encourage everyone to chip in at least a little bit.  They're great vets, and this is for a worthy cause.
