Wednesday's 14-hour Facebook shutdown was the biggest in their history. Experts still don't know exactly what caused it, so we did our own investigative research. We found several possible reasons for the shutdown and we're pretty sure it was one of the following:

  • North Korean hack (they meant to attack the Pentagon but got distracted by a quiz inviting them to discover their Leprechaun name)
  • The Boeing 737 Max Facebook page malfunctioned and shut down the entire company
  • Someone making those sped up "how to cook" videos left the stove on
  • Your cousin who posts every single thought and every single ache and pain didn't post yesterday and freaked the algorithms out
  • They were just testing for "the really big one" coming on April Fools Day
  • It was an intentional reminder that you can't live on Instagram and Twitter alone
