Why Will WA-Hi Grads Get a “Bang” Out of Ceremonies?
Perhaps it's to make up for some of the disruption and issues caused by COVID the last 18 months?
Monday, the Walla Walla School District announced the graduation ceremonies taking place at the Walla Walla County Fairgrounds this coming Friday will be followed by a fireworks show.
School district officials say it will begin at 9PM (weather permitting of course) and will last approximately 20 minutes.
The graduation itself is expected to take from 7-9PM, followed by the aerial act. According to the WWWSD:
"Friday, June 11
• 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
• Fireworks show at conclusion of the ceremony – approximately 9 p.m.
• Walla Walla County Fairgrounds Grandstands
• Families/Students – Communicate with school officials regarding tickets to the ceremony
• Use Tietan St. entrance and parking lot

So even for those not able to attend, they will still be able to see the entire proceedings.

This is the first time we've heard of any area high school doing this, of course, it could also be because it's at the Fairgrounds and not a more traditional setting. Inside the Toyota Center? Not a good idea.
Perhaps this will encourage other Districts to think outside the box when it comes to creating different graduation experiences for their seniors.
We do know Richland will be treated by a B-17 vintage bomber flyover at their event,
