What a difference 10-15 miles makes, even fewer!

Benton County Sheriff's Deputies shared these photos from heading into the Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

That snow that we got in Tri-Cities? Nothing compared to the Horse Heaven Hills and Northwest Benton County areas. During the overnight hours of 11-27-into 11-28, deputies used their UTV (utility tracked vehicle) to rescue a total of 8 people from six different vehicles that were stranded. Many of them were running out of gas keeping their cars running to stay warm.

Blowing snow and drifts on rural county roads became virtually impassable. Benton County Fire District 5 also assisted. One of the rescues was done locating a woman who had left her vehicle and set out on foot after getting stuck.
