Yum? Deep-Fried Bubblegum Wins Top Prize at Texas State Fair [VIDEO]

Of all the foods a person might deep fry, this could be the strangest. At the Texas State Fair on Monday, a deep-fried concoction of bubblegum and marshmallows won the prize for the most creative dish.

Justin Martinez took home an award for bubblegum-flavored marshmallows that had been battered, deep-fried and decorated with icing and — wait for it, waaaaait for it — Chiclets.

If it sounds odd (and if it doesn’t, we need to talk) consider some of its competition in the fried food category: buffalo chicken in a flapjack, deep-fried salsa and a dish simply known as the Walking Taco.
