As you may know, I joined Club 24 and am now "Gettin' Jiggly With It" to reduce my body fat and get in shape. Since I'm new to the gym, I've been making some mistakes. Learn from my bad example:

  • I thought I knew my stats.

Turns out, I didn't have a clue how much I really weighed or what my body fat percentage was. In order to get in shape, you need to know what shape you're in now!

  • I thought I'd lift some weights and run on a treadmill.

After my weigh-in and assessment I asked, "So what days do I do weights and what days do I do cardio? No, no, no. That's not how you do it anymore. Club 24 has sessions leading you through activities that encompass all of that. It's full body training for increasing strength, muscle, stamina and losing weight. This isn't your dad's gym. To be honest, it's kind of a mixture of boot camp and fun at the same time

  • I tried to run before I could walk.

After my weigh-in and assessment I signed up for the Revolutions class. My body experienced post-traumatic stress for THREE DAYS! So they bumped me down to the Foundations class, which is basically the same, only a little more doable for beginners. By trying to do more than I was ready for, I could have injured myself and I had a bad experience. Fitness is supposed to be fun.

  • I thought I could skip sessions sometimes using work as an excuse.

My foundations class is at 5:30 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays and 5:30 p.m. on Mondays and Thursdays (Kennewick). So there's no reason to miss. Whatever my work schedule is I can make that! Revolution classes meet several times a week (in Kennewick) so it fits into any lifestyle. Check out the schedule.

  • I thought I could wear a Speedo.

I'm still a little upset at the dress code. I don't think it's fair, but I'll obey the rules. Whatever.
