You learn something new everyday and I didn't realize that the Benton Franklin Fair and Rodeo doesn't own the fairgrounds that hosts the annual Benton Franklin Fair and Rodeo in August.

The non-profit committee that runs the Fair has until the end of the month to sign a new lease that will keep the event at the Fairgrounds.

The Benton County Commissioners notified the committee in writing that in absence of a new lease, the Fair would lose access to the facilities.

There has been growing tension between the county and the fair as rental rates have continued to rise over the years making the fair event cost prohibitive.

The good news is that that there will be a fair this coming year and both sides are looking to resolve the lease issues.
