Cougar Spotted Roaming Bateman Island Officials Say Be Careful
Local park rangers are warning the public to be careful around Bateman Island as more than one report has come in stating that a full grown cougar has been spotted on the popular Island.
The reports which came in over the weekend have not been verified however a park ranger did say he spotted tracks that could be from a cougar.
Wildlife officials say to be aware of your surroundings and if you do happen to come into contact with a cougar the LAST thing you want to do is RUN.
According to Wildsafebc.com
If you encounter a cougar, keep calm. Make yourself look as large as possible and back away slowly, keeping the cougar in view, and allowing a clear exit for the cougar. Pick up children and small pets immediately. Never run or turn your back- sudden movements may provoke an attack.
