Apparently people today hate listening to voicemails. Anything you need to say can be summarized in a text message until you get a chance to chat in person. Modern etiquette experts are saying you should only leave a voicemail if there's an emergency. It's such a world-wide fact that the New York Times is reporting on it. I have to agree. I LEAVE voicemails all the time, but I hate listening to them. Every time I see one on my phone it's such a burden. I have to stop everything I'm doing, shush the people around me or find a quiet place, enter a code I barely remember, and then wade through the automated response until I can hear the message. Then, half the time I have trouble understanding the person and don't get their full phone number.
