I recently relocated to the Tri-Cities, following a move to Duluth, Minnesota.  In my short-time there, less than six months, re-discovered my love for a tasty hot dish, or casserole.

I would NEVER turn away tater tot casserole or tater tot hot dish.  And, there are so many recipes.  I did a quick online search of where tater tot hot dish comes from.  The trusty internet (Wikipedia) informed me that the "dish originates in the Upper Midwest region of the United States, where it remains popular, particularly in Minnesota, South Dakota, Wisconsin, and North Dakota.  Hot dish is cooked in a single baking dish, and served hot."

Most hot dishes or casseroles are created with pasta, potatoes, and ground beef.  Various vegetables, (I love green beans or corn) cheese, and creamed soups are also used.

My favorite hot dish would be the tater tot casserole or hot dish.  And while I'm not a fan of Cream of Mushroom or Cream of Chicken Soup, I substitute with Cream of Celery or Cream of Potato Soup.  If you'd like to experience a delicious tater tot casserole recipe, find it here.

Let me know if you're a fan of this recipe, or share your variation.  Some people have secret ingredients added to the recipe.

Not only did I re-discover my taste for tater tot casserole, but, I also do enjoy a classic goulash.  My mom served this classic dish once a week for years in our Minnesota family home.

A typical Minnesota goulash includes ground beef, tomato soup or sauce, onion, and macaroni.  Click here for a recipe.
