Grant County Sheriff Tom Jones reports a 27-year-old woman from Des Moines, WA died after a collision between two jet skis Sunday on Moses Lake.

The crash occurred around 5pm near the boat launch at Blue Heron State Park, a popular place to not only launch watercraft, but many people recreate there.

Sheriff Jones said Adra-Ann Rice was riding one jet ski with an 8-year-old relative, her niece, when she collided with another watercraft piloted by a 17-year-old relative of her family. The 8-year-old girl was not seriously hurt, nor was the 17-year-old. All three were immediately reached by other people in and around the water, and they were rushed Samaritan Hospital in Moses Lake. Sheriff Jones praised the quick and massive response by other boaters who helped immediately.

Officials say with the warm weather, the lake was crowded with watercraft.

However, Adra died of her injuries later at the hospital. The incident is under investigation, but officials say it points out the need to use a lot of caution and pay extreme attention at all times when on the water in ANY kind of watercraft.
